HOW TO PREPARE FOR TET ENGLISH

The aspirants should have clear idea on the syllabus. For the sake of comparison, the two syllabi of English Paper-I & Paper-II are given below. Each paper has two sections - content & methodology and carries 30 marks.
The important points to be followed while preparing for taking TET(English Subject) in successful way.




30 marks are allotted to English Subject in TET. There are 24 questions on Content and 06 questions on Methodology. Each question carries one mark.
Content: There are four areas in this part.
1. Grammar 2. Composition
3. Comprehension 4. Vocabulary
Grammar
Comparing with the Paper-I, Paper-II needs more attention.
The power of Grammar decides the fate of an aspirant. So, it is necessary to get hold on each and every topic. That may be simple or complex.
The aspirants should start systematic learning from the basics of English Grammar like Kinds of Sentences, Parts of Speeches, syntax and so on.
They should concentrate on usage of important sub tenses, their structures, rules and key words. With the help of keywords, they can select appropriate verb forms. Whenever, they have grip on tenses, they can answer the remaining questions related to grammar and they can save their valuable time also. They may spare the time on difficult areas.

They should keep an eye on transformation of sentences. Under this area, they have to face questions on voice, speech, degrees and simple, compound and complex sentences.

If they have clear idea on 'Usage of Articles and Prepositions' it will be very easy to get more marks.
Every day, they have to spare at least one hour on English Grammar exercises from the prescribed books.
They should learn framing question tags and usage of phrases. It makes them getting more marks
Composition
Letter writing plays vital role in bagging more marks. The aspirants should concentrate on kinds of letters, parts of a letter, usage of punctuation marks etc.,
They should be careful about precise writing. They can score more marks by getting grip on the rules of condensing the passage into one third of its length.
Comprehension
Comprehension means 'understanding'. If the aspirants understand the given passage they can answer all the questions. They have to follow some easy tips for facing it in successful way.
Vocabulary
The aspirants should develop word power. For that, they should have hold on the areas like - Spellings, Alphabetical order, Meanings, Antonyms, Synonyms, one word substitutes etc., They can achieve word power by going through the standard books on word power everyday. It is useful not only for taking exams but also in daily life.
Methodology
Though the area carries four marks its scope is vast. So, the aspirants should be thorough in each and every topic of the area. It is advisable concentrating on the topics - Approaches, Methods, Techniques of Language Teaching, Four language Skills, Teaching and Learning Mate-rial, Evaluation, Curricular intervention etc.,

Florence Nightingale was born in Florence, Italy, in 1820. The Nightingales were an aristocratic family. Her father, William Nightingale, was a very wealthy landlord. Her mother, Fanny Nightingale, loved elegant dresses and parties.

Florence was different, not for her parties and skills and laces. Not for her life of wealth and ease. That was useless life! At 17, she announced that she had received a call. "God spoke to me and called me to his service", she said. Her parents were puzzled.

This turned to dismay when she said that the 'service' was to nurse the sick, as working as a nurse was considered lowly in those days. Her mother was heartbroken, but she got her father's blessings and Florence provided the best service to her patients. Her work got noticed and the beautiful lady led a band of women volunteers to Crimea in 1854.
